About Helen Yee
Helen is a multifaceted entrepreneur and artist deeply embedded in her community. As the CFO and co-founder of the American Institute of Alternative Medicine since 1990, she has made significant contributions to the field of holistic health. Her passion for art is evident in her work, which primarily utilizes acrylics, and spans a range of styles from abstract to various expressive forms. A proud alumna of Ohio Dominican University, she continues to engage with the local arts scene as a navigator for the Greater Columbus Arts Council, providing support and resources for artists in Columbus
In addition to her visual arts endeavors, Helen is an accomplished performer. She participates in community theater and has experience in commercials and short films, showcasing her versatility and creativity. As a talented bassist, she co-founded an all-female band that has made its mark by performing at numerous local festivals and venues since the early '90s, highlighting her dedication to promoting women in music.
Helen's commitment to community service is reflected in her involvement with various organizations and boards. She serves as a Commissioner for the Department of Neighborhoods and is a co-founder of the Ohio Progressive Asian Women’s Leadership. Additionally, she has held leadership roles such as an Executive Board member for the Asian American Commerce Group and a past VP Board member of Stonewall Columbus Center. Her influence extends beyond local initiatives, as she is also a board member of the National Women’s Music Festival and participates in other non-local boards.
Beyond her artistic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Helen shares her knowledge and expertise through teaching seminars in Qigong and Tai Chi, both locally and internationally. Her dedication to martial arts has been a lifelong journey, culminating in her recognition as an Olympic alternate on the US Taekwondo team, which speaks to her discipline and commitment to excellence in all her endeavors.
